DESCRIPTION
Sharpen your favorite chisel or plane iron blade effortlessly with the Planet Honing Guide. Simply place the tool in the guide, adjust it to match your desired grinding angle, and tighten. The guide smoothly rolls on the stone while keeping the blade's edge in contact. In just a few strokes, you'll achieve a razor - sharp edge. This guide can hold tools ranging from 2mm to 65mm wide at a consistent angle.
Using the guide is a breeze. First, make sure the roller rotates freely. After each use, clean and oil it. When honing a plane iron, use the wider jaws. To set it at a 25° angle, let the end stick out 50 mm (2') from the jaw edge. For a 30° angle, project it 38 mm (1 - 1/2') out. When working on a wood chisel, switch to the narrow jaws. Set it at a 25° angle by having the end protrude 40 mm (1 - 5/8') and 30 mm (1 - 3/16') for a 30° angle. These measurements are clearly cast on the guide for quick and easy sharpening. It's marked as Single: HG3.
Hey there! Using the Planet Professional Honing Guide is super easy. First, make sure the roller can spin freely. This helps the guide roll smoothly on the stone. After you're done sharpening, clean the roller and add a bit of oil to keep it in good shape.
If you're sharpening a plane iron, use the wider jaws. To get a 25 - degree angle, stick the end of the tool out about 50 mm from the edge of the jaws. For a 30 - degree angle, make it stick out 38 mm.
When it's time to sharpen a wood chisel, use the narrow jaws. For a 25 - degree angle, let the end stick out 40 mm, and for a 30 - degree angle, 30 mm. The guide has these measurements marked on it, so you don't have to measure each time.
Just place your tool in the guide, set the right angle, and tighten it. Then roll the guide on the stone, and in no time, you'll have a sharp edge on your tool.
