DESCRIPTION
The Planet Dovetail Squares feature spring - steel blades securely riveted to brass - faced rosewood stocks. To mark dovetail joints, simply place the square against the timber edge and use a pencil to mark the wood. These squares come in two useful versions. The 1:6 (DT16) is ideal for softwoods, while the 1:8 (DT18) works great with hardwoods. The 1:6 ratio square, DT16, is your go - to for softwood projects.
Using your Planet Dovetail Square is easy. First, find the edge of the timber you're working on. Then, hold the square firmly against that edge. Take a pencil and mark the timber according to the dovetail joint you want. Remember, if you're working with softwood, use the 1:6 (DT16) version. For hardwoods, pick the 1:8 (DT18) one. When not in use, store the square in a dry place to prevent the rosewood from warping and the spring - steel blade from rusting. Clean it with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Don't drop it or subject it to rough handling as it could damage the riveted parts or the blade.
